Terms of Service

1. Acceptance
By creating a Maternally account, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app. These terms apply to all users of the Maternally platform.
2. Not a substitute for professional care
IMPORTANT: Maternally is a support and screening tool. It is NOT: • A medical device • A substitute for diagnosis, treatment, or advice from a licensed healthcare professional • An emergency service If you are in crisis or believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 999 immediately. Do not rely on this app in an emergency.
3. Eligibility
You must be 18 or older to use Maternally. By registering, you confirm you are at least 18 years old. The app is intended for use during the perinatal period (pregnancy, postpartum, trying to conceive, pregnancy loss).
4. Your account
You are responsible for: • Keeping your password secure and confidential • All activity that occurs under your account • Notifying us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
5. Clinical assessments
The EPDS, GAD-7, and PHQ-9 screening tools within Maternally are validated clinical instruments. Your results: • Are not a diagnosis • Are shared with your assigned care team (if any) • Do not create a clinician-patient relationship with Maternally Always discuss screening results with a qualified healthcare provider.
6. AI companion
The AI companion is powered by large language model technology. It: • Is not a therapist, counsellor, or medical professional • May make mistakes • Does not have memory between sessions • Is not monitored in real time by a human Conversations that trigger our crisis detection system are flagged for clinical review. You should not rely on the AI companion as your sole source of support.
7. Prohibited use
You may not: • Use the app to harm yourself or others • Share your account with others • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or exploit the platform • Impersonate healthcare professionals • Submit false information that could affect your care
8. Intellectual property
All content within Maternally — including clinical content, UI, and brand — is owned by Maternally Wellbeing Services Limited or licensed to us. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission. The EPDS, GAD-7, and PHQ-9 instruments are licensed clinical tools with their own copyright terms.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law: • We provide the app "as is" without warranty • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages • Our total liability to you will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations — they may not apply to you.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, being the jurisdiction in which Maternally Wellbeing Services Limited is registered. Disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration, except for claims relating to intellectual property or injunctive relief.
11. Changes
We may update these terms at any time. We will notify you by email at least 30 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance.
